Voters to consider BCS bond issue

Speaker: Rex Pfeil, Blair Community Schools

Rex Pfeil, superintendent of Blair Community Schools, discussed the district's $19,635,000 bond issue on the May 10 primary election ballot.

The school board voted 7-2 during a special meeting Feb. 23 to approve moving forward with a bond issue not to exceed $19,635,00. The board then unanimously approved passing a resolution to call for an election. Amendments to the proposal, prior to the vote, pared down the cost by 2.22 percent.

Pfeil said that a citizens committee is being formed to publicize the upcoming bond issue to residents.

This will be the first bond issue BCS has pursued since voters approved one in 2007 to build Deerfield Primary School and construct additions/renovations at Blair High School and North Primary School.
