Rotary provides comic relief

Rotary Club of Blair hosted its first comedy night fundraiser, Mic Madness, on March 25, 2017, at Cottonwood Cove Marina & RV Resort, Blair. Three comedians kept the audience laughing.

The headliner was Richard Reese, who competed on "Last Comic Standing." He was featured in the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas and was the winner of the Great American Comedy Festival. Reese is a regular at the Funny Bone in Omaha, and he tours comedy clubs across the U.S.

The middle act was "Nebraska's Tallest Comic," 6-foot-8 Kris Covi. He won the 2014 Great American Comedy Festival in the amateur category and was a finalist out of 450 comics at the World Series of Comedy.

Emcee and opening comedian was Rotary's own Mike Hogan, host of "The Morning Show" on 105.5 FM and 1340 KHUB. He was a two-time finalist at the Great American Comedy Festival and has been chosen multiple times to perform at the WorldSeries of Comedy. Hogan's film credits include "Stay Tuned" and "Elvis and the Colonel: The Untold Story." He also appeared on the TV shows "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Hearts Afire."

Tickets were $40 per person, and guests could purchase insulated cups with Rotary's and sponsors' logos for all-you-can-drink keg beer for $20. Approximately 140 tickets were sold. A chicken and prime rib dinner were served.
