Tom Sternberg, associate broker at NP Dodge, and Joe Sharp, an aerial photographer from Beemer and a former Blair resident, talked about drones and the licensing requirements. Tom said he is in the process of obtaining FAA approval.

 

Drone operators have to apply with the FAA for an exemption and possess a pilot's license. FAA has implemented regulations to prevent inappropriate use of drones.

 

Joe said there is expected to be an estimated 100,000 drone jobs in the U.S. by 2018; the average salary of a drone operator is $104,000.
